Eco-Digital
Research on human dignity and new ecological ethics when generative AI, algorithms, and platforms become environments of everyday life, including inequalities in immaterial ecological resources such as sensation, information, and attention.
Research object
This research studies the material costs, algorithmic arrangements, distribution of sensation and attention, and relational responsibilities of Artificial Nature as one ecological chain.
Core problem
User convenience and efficiency can shift costs onto other people, labor, environments, communities, and future generations; a user-centered design frame alone is therefore insufficient for questions of coexistence.
Theoretical background
Eco-Digital is not anti-technology. It is a practical humanities asking how Artificial Nature can be inhabited and redesigned, shifting from user-centered to relation-centered design, from efficiency to coexistence, and from tool to environment.
Research questions
- How are the material and immaterial costs of technological environments distributed unequally?
- How can user-centered design shift toward relation-centered and coexistence-centered design?
Method and unit of analysis
Analysis brings together material infrastructure, information pollution and algorithmic bias, automation of sensation and distribution of attention, platform power, and relational responsibility.
